Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you … that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
Jesus Christ died for our sins. If you have sin, Christ died for you. Have you sinned? If you don’t know answer the following questions to see if you have ever sinned:
1) Have you ever placed something before God in your life? (Exodus 20)
2) Have you ever lied, stolen, or been consumed with desire for the possessions of another? (Exodus 20)
3) Have you ever had an inappropriate thought about a man or woman not your spouse? (Matthew 5:28)
4) Are you a member of the Human Race? (Romans 3:10, 22, 23)5) Have you ever thought an ill thought about God? (Romans 1:26-30)
If you answered yes to any of the above questions you have sin in your life. You don’t have to take our word, read the passages after each question, they are found in the Bible. If you have sin in your life there is a penalty: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death…”
There it is. Since you have sin in your life, you must die. Not only must you die physically, as all people will, but you are already dead spiritually and the ultimate penalty for being dead spiritually is the Lake of Fire. Revelation 20:13-15 reads:
And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
The second death, the eternal death in the Lake of Fire, never ends. God would be just if that were the end of all who have sinned. But God has provided a way to be saved from sin. As Romans 6:23b says:”… But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
How does one receive this good news to be saved from their sins? Ephesians 2:8, 9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” John 3:16 ”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 10:13 “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
If you have never placed your faith in Christ, do so today. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you WILL be saved…”
